Spend Your Summer as Our Camp Nurse — On an Island
Compensation: Competitive weekly rate housing and meals included
Needed: July 1-August 1 - Residential position
Looking for a meaningful, adventure filled summer? Our residential camp for teenage boys (approximately 40 campers, ages 12-18) needs a confident, calm, good‑humored nurse to handle meds, minor injuries and general wellness of our campers on a private island just three miles off the coast.
The campers attend a single session for the duration of the summer. The boys work on challenging projects, such as building piers and repairing and painting cabins.
You would be the sole Health care advisor on the Island, although many of our campers and staff are first aid certified.
Live on-site in the infirmary, which is right on the water and has beautiful views of the sunset. Enjoy ocean air and being part of a caring team. Private room and hearty meals included.
Berwick has operated for over 75 years. All of the buildings on the Island have been constructed by generations of Berwick Boys.

Responsibilities:
- Care for ill or injured campers and staff in the Infirmary
- Administer and manage medications
- Follow Physician Standing Orders
- Maintain health records
- Respond to emergencies with senior staff support
- When appropriate, transport campers for medical care off site
- Communicate with Parents, as needed
- Abide by Maine State Licensing Rules and Maine Camp Regulations
Qualifications
- Active RN or LPN license or EMT qualifications (Maine or compact)
- Experience with youth, camps, or schools preferred
- Strong communication and assessment skills
- Comfortable working in a small, close‑knit community
