What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Bertolino Foods, Inc.?
Duties and Responsibilities: (Include, but are not limited to the following)
- Supply the Production Department with raw materials as necessary for manufacturing.
- Under the direction of the coordinator and/or operator, provide general assistance to ensure the smooth running of the production process.
- Locates and safely moves raw material to the production department with equipment such as a pallet jack and carts.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules.
- Standing for long periods in a cold/refrigerated environment (28°F).
- Follow and understand verbal instructions in a fast-paced environment and work under an immediate supervisor.
- Daily breakdown of basic production equipment, cleaning, and sanitizing.
- Ensure clean, safe, and organized work areas and a clean room.
- Ensure all food safety, quality assurance, SQF, and GMP policies and procedures are followed.
- Comply with all health, sanitation, and USDA regulations.
- Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull.
- Ability to frequently walk throughout production rooms throughout the workday.
- Ability to frequently bend and lift at the waist/knees.
- Assembling and disassembling boxes, packing meat products, weighing, and loading boxes on pallets.
- Safely operate the following: Box cutter, box sealer, scale, and vacuum sealer.
- Collect wash and sanitize boxes for re-use in production.
- Comply with policies described in the Employee Handbook and other policies and procedure documents .
- Perform additional tasks from time to time as determined by Bertolino Foods at its sole and absolute discretion. Such tasks may include, but are not limited to, cleaning condensation from refrigeration units, cleaning windows, etc., and other basic manual tasks as required.
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds
- Ability to push/pull heavy objects.
- Subject to cold weather conditions (28F)
- Able to operate a pallet jack
- Strong sense of time organization and urgency
Responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of raw materials to Bertolino Foods specifications. Must adhere to all company GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), SQF, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and all Food Safety policies.
