We’re looking for a Casemaker Operator Trainee to join our Bindery team! In this role, you’ll learn to set up, operate, and maintain the 1940 Sheridan Casemaker , which produces hardcover cases for books! You’ll work under the guidance of a Casemaker Operator Trainer while supporting production, monitoring quality, and ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and assemble materials according to work order specifications.
• Load boards, monitor glue levels, and feed raw materials into the Sheridan Casemaker.
• Assist with machine setup and operation to meet production and quality standards.
• Read a ruler and take precise measurements ; use calculators and measurement tools to verify accuracy.
• Record production counts, update logs, and communicate material needs to forklift operators.
• Maintain a clean, lubricated, and debris-free machine and work area.
• Follow ISO, JWI, SOP, and trainer instructions during all operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine cleaning of equipment.
• Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Requirements:
• Familiarity with bindery operations or mechanical processes (preferred but not required).
• Basic computer skills, strong reading comprehension, and math skills (fractions/decimals).
• Mechanical aptitude, dependability, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions, communicate clearly, and work as part of a team.
Work Schedule:
• 3rd shift - Monday to Friday - 11:30 PM – 7:30 AM
