Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide career guidance development to secondary students in the Berryville School District to assist them in preparing for high school graduation, post-secondary education, apprenticeship or workforce training, or positive direct placement into the workforce or military. This position will assist or work in conjunction with school guidance counselors and students in identifying and accessing career information, education and training opportunities to improve graduation rates, CTE programs of study completion, and positive post-secondary placement, thereby decreasing college major changes and job dissatisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge of educational and training programs, career development models, employment and hiring practices, local labor markets, available resources, and ethical and legal issues relating to diverse populations.
Ability to administer and interpret related student assessments.
Promote interviewing skills and provide assistance in listening, reflecting, and encouraging along with organizational skills, knowledge of records management, and technology skills for reporting data via Microsoft Word and Excel.
Education and Experience:
Four-year college degree in a field related to the job such as education, business administration, counseling, etc.
*This position is under the direction of North Arkansas College. The individual hired to be the Career Coach will be an employee of the college, not Berryville Schools.
