Responsibilities
Manage plant operations; maintain equipment and processes appropriately; staff operations effectively.
Meet operational goals and objectives; meet product cost targets; meet product quality objectives; meet safety goals and objectives.
Foster a safe and healthy work environment; conform to all city, state and federal regulations; encourage employee participation.
Motivate and empower employees; encourage team participation; empower employees in decision making; encourage employee self-improvements.
Promote product safety (assuming responsibility for prerequisite and food safety programs in the absence of the Quality Manager).
Responsible for establishing and maintaining the plant safety plans and policies.
Responsible for coordinating production distribution, and warehousing in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the corporate headquarters.
Responsible for conferring with vendor sales and technical representatives.
Responsible for conferring with sales representatives to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area.
Responsible for developing plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
Responsible for reviewing production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
Responsible for monitoring production process to ensure efficiency and highest quality products.
Qualifications
Manage 4 - 6 supervisors who oversee a total of 125 employees in all departments of the plant. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
If plant manager is out of the facility, the production manager will assume the responsibilities.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
High school education and some college and/or related experience required; Clerical and computer skills and good verbal communications
Equal amounts of time spent sitting, standing and walking.
Enclosed office space with frequent exposure to warehouse space and workshop floor; hearing protection required in certain locations.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Preferred B.A./B.S. in Engineering, Operations or Management or equivalent experience in manufacturing, Project Management, Quality Assurance, Operations Management
Understand spreadsheets, charts and technical manuals; Good phone skills required.
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication); Ability to convert units of measure; Must have fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
