What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Family and Consumer Science (FACS) Teacher position at Berrien Middle School?
MIDDLE SCHOOL FACS TEACHER (6-8)- This is a full-time position at Berrien Middle School. Position is for 10 months and requires extended day responsibilities. Qualified candidates must hold a valid clear renewable Georgia PSC teaching certificate in Family and Consumer Science Education or be eligible to hold a clear renewable certificate in Family and Consumer Science Education.
Classroom Instruction ( General Ed Teacher Job Description)
- Teach local day FACS classes
- Conduct field trips, both in and out of district
- Prepare collaborative lesson plans, demonstration plans, and teaching materials for all classes
FCCLA
- Serve as an advisor for the FCCLA chapter
- Work with the FCCLA Advisor at Berrien High School
- Assist students in coordinating FCCLA activities at the local, area, region, state and national levels
- Prepare and train FCCLA contest teams and entries according to state standards
- Assist students in preparing applications for FCCLA Scholarships, awards, etc.
- Assist students in conducting a public relations program for the local FCCLA chapter and FACS Department.
Other
- Advise and coordinate the local FCCLA Alumni chapter
- Prepare and track the budget for the FACS program each year.
- Coordinate, maintain inventories, and keep record of the FACS accounts for classroom and lab supplies
- Inventory the supplies and equipment of the FACS program
- Cooperate in maintaining, planning, and improving the physical facilities
- Complete and file required monthly reports with the State in order to maintain state funding
