  5. To provide instruction for skill development to meet the needs of the agricultural industry.
  6. To provide instruction for the application of leadership and personal skill development in the agricultural industry.
  7. To provide an opportunity for farmers and agribusiness to expand the mental capacity of the agricultural industry.
  8. To provide instruction to increase the managerial skills needed to operate an agricultural enterprise.
  9. To provide an opportunity for individuals to increase the values for our society. 

 

REPORTS TO:  Principal and CTAE Director

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Bachelor degree in Agricultural Education or closely related field with valid Georgia teaching certificate in Ag Education.
  2. A minimum of three years teaching experience in Agricultural education.
  3. Ability to relate well to students, parents, and co-workers.
  4. Physical demands - position requires significant standing and some sitting, kneeling and walking.  Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling will not normally exceed thirty (30) pounds, and will normally be in the area of ten (10) pounds.  Must be able to move about the classroom and monitor student behavior.

 

JOB DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of the CTAE Director and in full compliance with the standards set forth for the Georgia Young Farmer Agribusiness Program by the Georgia State Board of Education, the Young Farmer Teacher shall:

  1. Conduct a group instructional program consisting of organized classes for adult participants of the Young Farmer Agribusiness Program.
  1. Provide instruction on an individual or small group basis for participants of the Young Farmer Agribusiness Program.
  2. Teach one agricultural education class daily for secondary students during each semester of the school year.
  3. Supervise the SAE programs of students enrolled in the secondary agricultural education class.
  4. Perform related instructional activities that are necessary for the conducting of successful adult and secondary instructional programs, fulfilling administrative requirements of the Young Farmer Agribusiness Program, and for the documenting of program activities and compliance with program requirements.
  1. Serve as Advisor for the local Young Farmer Association chapter.
  2. Assist the full-time Secondary Agriculture Instructor in conducting the Secondary Agriculture Program and in carrying out the activities of the local FFA Chapter.
  1. Assist with the improvement of Agricultural Education facilities and equipment in the local school system.
  2. Participate in training activities that will assist him/her in becoming or remaining knowledgeable and technologically proficient in problem or interest areas that will benefit the adult and secondary participants of the program.
  1. Assist with the daily operations of the Berrien County canning plant when in season.  
  2. Carry out other duties and responsibilities as requested by his/her immediate supervisor.

   

 

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Berrien Young Farmer Agribusiness Program is to provide educational instruction and opportunities to individuals engaged in the agricultural industry which will increase their  proficiency in agricultural production, management, agribusiness and leadership.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Position works 230 days.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance is evaluated in accordance with the personnel policy on certified evaluations.
