What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Health Projects Coordinator - Temporary/Part-Time position at Berrien County?
DUTIES:
- Plans, coordinates, and implements special projects, grants, and programs; develops work plans and monitors progress, reporting on outcomes.
- Collaborates with community partners, including health and human service agencies, healthcare providers, schools, and municipalities, to address population needs.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets data to inform planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Communicates clearly through concise, audience-appropriate materials, including technical reports.
- Integrates health promotion and prevention into existing public health systems.
- Serves as liaison to community coalitions and task forces, facilitating stakeholder meetings to advance project goals.
- Assesses stakeholder needs, recommends solutions, and supports program design and management.
- Leads planning for new initiatives, contributes to grant development, and prepares reports demonstrating community health needs and program outcomes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in health education, public health, human services, or related field of study and two years of experience in public health, health education programming or related work.
- Master's degree is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license with access to a reliable vehicle throughout the course of employment.
- The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
- In times of a public health emergency, may be required to report for specialized assigned duties inside or outside of Berrien County.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage diverse populations, build effective relationships, and facilitate teamwork.
- Ability to communicate clearly through presentations, writing, and active listening.
- Thorough knowledge of Berrien County community service networks and Health Department partner agencies.
- Expertise in community organization, facilitation, and planning activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis applications; knowledge of graphic design or design software preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills to set priorities, manage resources, coordinate with team members, and monitor project progress.
- Demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and commitment to meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
