Maintenance Supervisor

DUTIES:

• Responsible for the daily operations of the Building and Grounds Department, including supervision, training, and performance management of maintenance staff.
• Interviews candidates, recommends hiring and disciplinary actions, conducts performance reviews, and ensures employees receive appropriate safety and equipment training.
• Inspects County buildings and grounds to assess maintenance needs, prioritize work requests, assign staff, and ensure timely, quality completion.
• Oversees preventive maintenance and repairs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.
• Manages energy systems to promote efficient facility operations and recommends energy-saving measures.
• Coordinates carpentry and general building projects, including framing, drywall, plaster, painting, ceilings, flooring, and cabinetry.
• Oversees grounds maintenance, including landscaping, snow removal, lawn care, and small engine repair.
• Recommends the purchase of maintenance supplies and equipment and works with vendors to obtain competitive pricing.
• Collaborates with architects, engineers, and contractors on capital projects, including developing requests for proposals and reviewing bid packages.
• Assists with the annual operating budget and recommends capital improvement projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree or completion of a trade-related apprenticeship program and five years of progressively more responsible experience in facility management; OR
• High school diploma or equivalent, with trade-related course work and seven years of progressively more responsible experience in facility management.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license throughout the course of employment.
• Must obtain EPA Level I Refrigeration Certification within six months of employment and successfully complete Asbestos Abatement Training within one year of employment.
• A thorough understanding of OSHA requirements, Hazard Communication standards, and fire safety procedures is required.
• The ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and to frequently stand, sit, walk, squat, and perform repetitive movements is essential to successfully perform the duties of this position.
• This position is subject to call-in during off-duty hours.
