SITION DESCRIPTION:

The Safety Manager will be responsible for promoting a positive safety culture. The Safety Manager will administer, organize, and conduct companywide training programs around workplace safety in accordance with OSHA, DOT, EPA and SDS regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Safety, or a relevant field
  • 3-5 years of Safety Management experience
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and ability to travel between Lakeland and Sebring facilities
  • Forklift and Pallet Jack certification trainer
  • CDL A License preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, SDS and EPA laws/requirements
  • Knowledge of Smith System training is preferred but not required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Researches, plans, organizes, and conducts training programs.
  • Reviews internal safety policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate; make recommendations to management to amend safety policies and procedures.
  • Oversee, perform inspections, and enforce compliance with all SDS, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations pertaining to company operations while maintaining awareness of SDS, OSHA, EPA, and DOT amendments and make recommendations for their implementation.
  • Maintains continual inspections of alarms and extinguishers. Ensures preventative maintenance is conducted on all protocols.
  • Works closely with department managers to conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Maintains accurate records for regulatory compliance, employee training files, DOT driver files, and other regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Performs DOT safety functions including accident reviews, annual DQ reviews and equipment inspections.
  • Performs safety related training for poor performers.
  • Conducts work area/shop inspections and assists with personal injury investigations.
  • Investigates and facilitates the investigation of all accidents and near miss occurrences, identifies trends and causes and ensures that corrective measures are implemented.
  • Conducts and certifies all forklift training for new and current employees.
  • Coordinates annual fire inspection tours and planned/unplanned tours by other safety and health regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains appropriate communication with immediate management, Human Resources, and third-party claims’ administrator
  • Assists Human Resources with all OSHA and accident reports.
  • Owns the in-vehicle camera process and identifies areas for training and improvement.
  • Conducts quarterly OSHA walk throughs at both sites and presents the findings to Human Resources
  • Maintains the Call Tree in case of an emergency
  • Oversees and coordinates the Company emergency response plan.
  • Develop and maintain an employee incentive program for no accidents and/or safety violations.
  • Conducts quarterly safety committee meetings and ensures safety handbook is up to date.

Fleet Responsibilities

  • Manage preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Direct truck painting schedule.
  • Maintain master list of all BLD assets and where they are located.
  • Oversee, maintain, and keep current all fleet upgrade plans to ensure equipment is aligned with sales and delivery needs.
  • Administer the selling of any equipment.
  • Ensure that all tags, insurance cards and registrations are current.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to move on and off a forklift continuously.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical every two years.
  • Ability to bend, squat and climb.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
