Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Shingle Roofer to join our skilled roofing team. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience installing and repairing asphalt shingles (and other shingle varieties as needed), a strong safety mindset, and a track record of delivering high-quality work on schedule. This role requires collaboration with foremen, crew members, and clients to ensure durable, weather-tight roofing installations.

Responsibilities:

· Install, repair, and replace asphalt shingles and related roofing materials (underlayment, drip edge, vent pipes, flashing, ridge cap, etc.) according to manufacturer specifications and local code.

· Prepare roofs for installation (inspect decking, repair or replace damaged boards, ensure proper ventilation and insulation where applicable).

· Install underlayment, leak barriers, shingles, hips, ridges, flashing, and accessories with precision.

· Install and seal roof penetrations (vents, exhausts, skylights) and install flashing around chimneys, walls, and valleys.

· Maintain high standards of workmanship to ensure wind resistance, water infiltration prevention, and long-term durability.

· Operate and maintain roof tools and equipment (nail guns, compressors, ladders, harnesses, safety gear) and perform routine preventive maintenance.

· Uphold safety protocols and PPE usage; conduct job-site safety briefings and identify hazards.

· Manage job-site cleanliness and organize materials to minimize waste and trip hazards.

· Communicate progress, potential issues, and changes to the foreman or project manager, document work for progress reporting.

· Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices or less experienced roofers as needed.

· Ensure compliance with local and state building codes, OSHA standards, and company safety policies.

· Perform post-install inspections and address warranty concerns as required.

Qualifications:

· Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a professional shingle roofer (residential preferred).

· Proficient in installing asphalt shingles (3-tab and architectural), underlayment, flashing, ventilation, and related accessories; experience with other shingle types (cedar, metal, composite) is a plus.

· Strong knowledge of roofing materials, tools, safety practices, and building codes.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

· Physical stamina and dexterity to work on rooftops, lift heavy materials, and work in varying weather conditions.

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; clean driving record may be required.

· Relevant certifications or training (OSHA 10 or 30, ladder safety, fall protection) preferred.

· Valid roofing contractor license or journeyman status if required by state/local regulations (verify and specify as applicable).

· Strong communication and teamwork skills; customer-service oriented when interacting with clients.

Physical Requirements

This position involves physical labor, and candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Lifting: Ability to lift to 50 lbs., as this is essential for handling materials and equipment.
• Climbing: Comfortable navigating ladders and working at heights, as many roofing tasks require access to elevated areas.
