SUMMARY:
The Assistant Engineering Manager plays a critical leadership role in preserving the exceptional physical environment and seamless guest experience expected of a Forbes 4-Star luxury resort. This position must be fully proficient in all responsibilities of Engineer I and Engineer II, while also providing daily leadership, technical oversight, preventive maintenance coordination, and project support for the Engineering team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and assign daily preventive maintenance schedules for guest rooms, public spaces, and resort equipment to ensure luxury presentation standards are consistently maintained
- Maintain detailed daily logs of preventive maintenance accomplishments, follow-up needs, and outstanding projects
- Collaborate with the Executive Housekeeper and Front Office leadership to appropriately place guest rooms Out of Order when repairs or quality concerns impact the guest experience
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, carts, resort vehicles, plumbing, electrical systems, and other property infrastructure
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of capital improvements, renovation work, and major engineering projects as assigned
- Serve as acting department leader in the absence of the Chief Engineer, ensuring continuity of service, team accountability, and timely response to resort needs
- Partner with all resort departments to support operational requests, service recovery situations, and guest-facing maintenance concerns with discretion and urgency
- Complete thorough shift notes, pass-on logs, project updates, and communication entries to support seamless departmental transitions
- Champion a culture of workplace safety, compliance, and proper use of tools, equipment, and PPE at all times
- Lead by example in fostering professionalism, continuous improvement, and luxury service standards within the Engineering team
- Respond to after-hours and emergency maintenance situations as needed to protect guest safety and preserve the resort experience
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief Engineer and General Manager
- Minimum 4 years of progressive hotel or luxury resort engineering experience preferred
- Demonstrated technical proficiency exceeding Engineer I and Engineer II skill expectations
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and general building maintenance
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues in both standardized and non-standardized environments
- Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, technical manuals, blueprints, maintenance instructions, and operational diagrams
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to document work clearly and professionally in logs and reports
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills with a service-oriented approach
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while effectively leading others
- Demonstrated commitment to learning, development, and continuous improvement
- Must be available for emergency call response when operationally necessary
- Must provide valid documentation establishing authorization to work in the United States
- Must meet all legal age requirements for the position
- High school diploma or equal to a GED.
