Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled, senior-level Microsoft 365 Security Engineer/Cybersecurity Contractor to support a leading global consulting organization on a critical Microsoft security initiative. This role will focus on the implementation, configuration, optimization, and technical design of Microsoft 365 security solutions, with primary emphasis on Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE), and Microsoft Purview.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience across the Microsoft security stack and the ability to translate security requirements into effective technical solutions. This individual will work independently while collaborating with engineering, security, infrastructure, and client teams to implement and improve enterprise Microsoft 365 security capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Design, configure, implement, and optimize Microsoft 365 security solutions across enterprise environments.
- Lead technical implementation and administration of Microsoft Intune, including endpoint management, security policies, compliance policies, configuration profiles, and endpoint security controls.
- Implement and optimize Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) capabilities, including endpoint protection, threat detection, security policies, attack surface reduction, and endpoint security controls.
- Configure and support Microsoft Purview security and compliance capabilities, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), sensitivity labels, information protection, and data security policies.
- Support implementation and optimization of Microsoft Defender for Office 365, including email security, anti-phishing, threat protection, and related security controls.
- Support Microsoft Defender for Cloud and related Microsoft cloud security capabilities.
- Assess existing Microsoft 365 security configurations and identify opportunities to strengthen security posture, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
- Translate technical and security requirements into practical Microsoft security configurations and solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex Microsoft security and endpoint issues and provide timely technical recommendations.
- Collaborate with identity, infrastructure, engineering, compliance, and cybersecurity teams to integrate Microsoft security solutions across the enterprise environment.
- Assist with security assessments, technical design, proof-of-concepts, implementation planning, and deployment activities.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, configuration standards, implementation procedures, and security recommendations.
- Stay current with Microsoft security products, features, security best practices, and emerging threats.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, Microsoft security, endpoint security, cloud security, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong professional experience working with the Microsoft 365 security stack.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and enterprise endpoint management.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE).
- Strong experience with Microsoft Purview, including information protection and/or Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Office 365 and enterprise email security.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud or related Microsoft cloud security technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to implement, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Microsoft security solutions.
- Strong understanding of endpoint security, identity and access management, data protection, threat protection, and Microsoft 365 security controls.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage priorities within a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 security implementations.
- Consulting, systems integration, or professional services experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, endpoint compliance policies, security baselines, and identity-based security controls.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender XDR and related Microsoft security technologies.
- Microsoft certifications such as SC-100, SC-401, SC-300, or MD-102.
- Experience conducting Microsoft security assessments, developing technical recommendations, or supporting security transformation initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
