Diesel Technician
The Diesel Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
Core Focus
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and vehicle systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
- Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with company standards
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on diesel trucks and equipment
- Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, steering, and electrical systems
- Complete preventative maintenance services and inspections
- Accurate documentation for work performed, parts used, and labor time
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Communicate repair needs and timelines with service advisors and management
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively
- Stay current on technical training and manufacturer updates
Qualifications
- Previous diesel technician experience preferred
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and shop equipment
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- CDL a plus

Work Environment
- Shop-based environment with exposure to noise, tools, equipment, and vehicles

- May require overtime based on business needs
Physical & Other Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Ability to work in varying temperatures
Compensation
- Competitive hourly pay or salary based on experience
- Level A Technician $34.00 to $40.00
- Level B Technician $30.00 to $34.00
- Level C Technician $27.00 to 30.00
- Overtime eligibility in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws
