Parts Manager

The Parts Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the parts department at the assigned location. This role directly supervises parts department employees and ensures efficient inventory management, accurate ordering, strong customer service, and compliance with company policies and manufacturer requirements. The Parts Manager works closely with the Senior Parts Manager to support departmental goals and operational consistency.

Class 8 parts & service knowledge required, PAACAR a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily parts department operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction
• Supervise department employees, including scheduling, training, and performance management
• Oversee inventory control, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and cycle counts
• Ensure accurate pricing, invoicing, and parts documentation
• Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety standards within the parts department
• Support service and sales departments by ensuring timely parts availability
• Address and resolve customer and internal department concerns professionally
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and manufacturer requirements
• Monitor departmental performance metrics, inventory levels, and ordering trends
• Participate in department meetings, training, and parts programs as required
• Escalate operational or staffing concerns to the Senior Parts Manager as appropriate

Qualifications

• Previous parts department experience required; supervisory experience preferred
• Knowledge of inventory management systems and dealership management software
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory-related software

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of parts department employees
• Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, and development of parts staff
• Set clear expectations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
• Support performance evaluations and corrective action processes in coordination with the Senior Parts Manager

Service Standards & Expectations

• Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism
• Ensure accuracy and accountability in inventory and parts transactions
• Promote teamwork and strong communication across departments
• Lead by example with integrity, safety, and compliance focus

Work Environment

The Parts Manager works in a dealership or warehouse environment, including office space, parts storage areas, and service shop interaction. The role may involve exposure to noise, varying temperatures, and moving equipment.

Physical & Other Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift, carry, and move parts and materials with or without reasonable accommodation
• Occasional bending, reaching, and climbing as required
• Ability to work in a warehouse or dealership environment
