Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, hands-on experience with QuickBooks, and payroll processing expertise. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, preparing financial reports, and supporting the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial accuracy.
• Process payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Assist in the set up of new employees and payroll deductions.
• Generate financial statements and management reports.
• Assist with sales tax, gross receipts and income tax preparation.
• Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2–5 years of accounting experience.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online).
• Experience processing payroll and maintaining payroll records.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with payroll tax reporting and compliance.
• Experience with Thomson Reuters accounting software.
• Experience working in a small to mid-sized business environment.
• Bookkeeping certification is a plus.
