Position Summary

Berkshire South Regional Community Center seeks a qualified and professional Director of Finance and Administration to join our dynamic nonprofit organization. This key leadership position oversees all aspects of financial administration, business planning, human resources, and budgeting for the Center’s $3.2 million annual budget.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Administration provides strategic leadership in finance, HR, and compliance, ensuring that the Center’s operations align with its mission and long-term sustainability. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and a collaborative spirit, thriving in a community-centered environment where connection and purpose drive the work.

The Director is responsible for maintaining sound accounting and financial systems, ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of all financial reporting and forecasting. This position oversees budgetary controls, grant and donor fund management, and cash management functions, upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability across all operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, audits, and oversight of billing and bookkeeping functions.
  • Maintain and improve financial systems using QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Manage all aspects of donor and grant funding, including grant budgeting, tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee payroll, benefits, and HR processes through CheckWriters, including employee data management, compliance, and support of a positive and equitable workplace culture.
  • Provide organizational oversight for risk management, insurance, IT systems, facilities, and overall administrative operations.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Board Finance Committee to develop financial strategies that sustain and strengthen the Center’s long-term mission and goals.
  • Supervise finance and administrative staff, fostering professional growth, collaboration, and accountability within the team.

This is a hands-on position that will require the Director of Finance and Administration to perform all financial functions with support of 1 FTE support. Onsite work is required with one day per week remote option. Additionally, as part of the senior management team of the organization, will help guide the organization’s mission. This individual will work in close relation with all department managers to ensure proactive and strategic management of all budgeted and forecasted figures and will work closely with the Executive Director and Finance Committee of the organization to help lead business efforts.

Requirements:

The Director of Finance and Administration should be a seasoned professional with 5 or more years of broad business and finance management experience. They must have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and a CPA or MBA would be plus. Experience and knowledge in nonprofit financial management required, demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting expected and excellent communication skills, analytical skills, computer skills, QuickBooks, organizational skills and customer service skills necessary. They must possess a collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality and a team player.
