Job Summary
The Director Clinical Services is responsible for providing leadership to all clinical staff and related services to assure efficiency and effectiveness of clinical operations. The Director Clinical Services serves as a change agent to streamline services and promote excellence in care by providing staff with support, mentoring, coaching and supervision. The Director Clinical Services works under the direction of the Administrative Director BVNA and works collaboratively with the staff, other leaders within the agency, Community Health Division, and throughout Berkshire Health Systems.
Experience
- Five years of progressive and versatile nursing and management experience required.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership, problem solving, team building, budgeting and coaching.
- Knowledge of home care operations preferred.
- Experience in preparing, monitoring and enforcing budgets and staffing patterns.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required within two years of hire.
- Masters Degree in Nursing, Health Administration or related field preferred.
License & Certifications
- Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts
- Driver's License

- Current knowledge of all homecare regulatory requirements and demonstrated expertise in implementing quality systems to meet these regulations preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaboratively sets the standards for clinical practice in home care as a specialty and provides the leadership to implement these standards throughout the treatment team delivery system.
- Provides direct supervision to Clinical Managers and Patient Access Manager as well as designated professional and support staff within the agency and ensures adequate coverage for these positions.
- Promotes an interdisciplinary team structure and collaboration among disciplines and team members.
- Monitors clinical practice guidelines and a fair acuity system for clinical staff practice to respond to the reimbursement demands of the Perspective Payment System and the Pay for Performance Guidelines.
- Participates in and collaborates on program development initiatives and on community benefit projects.
- Develops and manages the operating and capital budgets for the clinical areas in collaboration with the Administrative Director, Business Manager and Clinical Managers.
- Coordinates and participates in the Administrator-on-call system of the Agency.
- Creates, in collaboration with the Quality and Compliance Director, annual plans using quantifiable goals to achieve regulatory compliance.
- Implements processes and programs necessary to achieve clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction scores that surpass the national average when benchmarked.
- In the absence of the Administrative Director, assumes interim responsibility for the Agency.
- Maintains clinical competency in nursing as well as current knowledge of the home care industry trends affecting patient care, reimbursement, case management and regulatory standards.
- Collaboratively works with other Leaders, Clinical Educator and staff to identify educational needs of the agency staff in response to home care trends.
- Ensures effective and timely resolution of patient complaints.
- Oversees staff disciplinary issues and ensures effective resolution of concerns.
- Provides the Administrative Director with ongoing updates to include the status of clinical services, staff, morale issues, and budgetary control.
- Oversees, in collaboration with the Clinical Managers, the selection, hiring and orientation of nursing and clinical support staff.
- Anticipates staffing needs and works with appropriate people for successful resolution of recruitment, orientation, and assignment issues.
- Operates in a manner that is in compliance with all regulatory standards and management practices by overseeing and ensuring complete and timely performance reviews, competency testing, and mandatory education for all staff.
