Responsibilities
Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is seeking an Underwriting Intern to support our Underwriting organization through project-based work, documentation support, and cross-functional collaboration from June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to learn how underwriting drives business decisions.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedure documentation, as well as lookups and other reference materials.
- Provide input on communications and implementation with relevant internal teams, including Underwriting, Distribution, Policy/Underwriting Services, and Loss Control.
- Actively participate in the execution of underwriting projects and initiatives.

Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s program (Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Business, Economics, Statistics/Data Analytics, or a related field preferred).
- Analytical problem‑solving skills and comfort working with data (formulas, lookups, and pivot tables).
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset for partnering with Underwriting, Distribution, Policy/Underwriting Services, and Loss Control.
