Responsibilities
The Premium Audit Trainee is responsible for accurately determining the final policy premium for Workers Compensation and Business Owner Policies by validating class codes assigned to each policy and confirming that proper payroll, sales, and subcontractor costs are properly charged and assigned to the correct classifications on the policy. This is done through an audit of policyholders’ books and records either through the mail, over the phone, or via an on-site audit at the policyholder’s location.
Responsibilities:
- Perform mail and telephone audits from our home office location in Wilkes-Barre, PA
- Serve as the primary contact for policyholders throughout the audit process by providing superior customer service, follow up, education, and explanations of the audit function to help facilitate satisfactory completion of the audit within predetermined timeliness
- Review audit worksheets, payroll journals, distribution journals, tax documentation, and various other ad-hoc reports as needed to determine chargeable exposures in accordance with applicable state laws and manuals
- Review operations of business through the use of telephone interviews, audit worksheets, file documentation, applications, and Internet searches to validate classifications are properly assigned to the policy in accordance with applicable state laws and manuals
- Complete audit worksheets using an excel template and process the audit findings in our proprietary policy system
Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy are essential for this role
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient use of a computer
