Summary of job:
As a Behavioral Health Counselor, you will provide integrated treatment supporting the needs of both behavioral and physical health care to clients admitted to Berks Counseling Center. This would include clinical treatment modalities and supporting documentation.
You will…
- Provide screening, assessment, and evaluation of potential clients.
- Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling.
- Effectively assess client treatment needs and develop a comprehensive individualized integrated treatment plan.
- Complete clinical documentation that meets compliance standards, medical necessity guidelines, and agency standards as to timeliness and accuracy of documentation.
- Maintain weekly direct service hours as designated by supervisor.
Requirements
To qualify for the position, you will need…
- A master’s degree in a related social service field
- At least three (3) months direct counseling and substance abuse counseling experience (or relevant internship)
- A Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB) certification (CRS, CAC, or CADS) or the ability to get it within 1 year of employment.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week within agency hours of operation, which are 8am-8pm Mon-Thurs, 8am-4pm Friday, with Saturday hours, when applicable.

- Be Bilingual: English/Spanish
- Know the assessment and treatment of behavioral health disorders.
- Know community services available to low-income, high-risk populations.
- Have experience in documenting clinical needs clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner.
Physical Requirements:
- VISUAL: Must be able to read and interpret documents and read and analyze data on a computer screen for prolonged periods.
- COMMUNICATING: Must be able to communicate with clients, vendors, and coworkers.
- MOBILITY: Must have mobility to move about the agency.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be able to carry up to 5 pounds.
- OTHER: Must be able to write, type and use technology.

- Receipt of results of a satisfactory drug and alcohol screening test.

These clearances must be valid within the 60 months prior to employment. A conviction is not a bar to employment; however, a review will be conducted to make a determination of employment should a conviction be present.
- Receipt of original documentation and verification of relevant degrees, diplomas, certificates, or licensure.
- Confirmation that you are not on the OIG Federal Healthcare Program Exclusion from Participation list. Should you appear on this list, Berks Counseling Center is prohibited from employing you.
