Berkley Hunt has partnered with a mission-driven investment and healthcare platform building the next generation of companies transforming population health. They’re seeking a Director of IT Operations to lead technology delivery across the organization, driving service excellence, cybersecurity, and AI-enabled operational efficiencies that enable scale across a growing portfolio.

About the Role:

You’ll oversee all IT operations across a cloud-native, agile environment supporting both the firm and its operating companies. This hands-on, high-impact leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, multidisciplinary settings, combining strategy, service delivery, cybersecurity, and AI innovation to help colleagues perform at their best.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership to define and execute the IT roadmap, manage vendor performance, and ensure seamless, secure technology experiences for all employees.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

• Own, develop, and deliver the organization’s IT roadmap.
• Build strong, trust-based partnerships across teams and portfolio companies.
• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and psychological safety.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies, especially AI, cloud, and cybersecurity, and drive adoption of best practices.

IT Service Delivery

• Lead IT operations across the organization, ensuring highly responsive and reliable support.
• Oversee Managed Service Providers (MSPs), negotiating contracts and SLAs for optimal service and cost efficiency.
• Manage onboarding/offboarding processes (joiner/mover/leaver) and maintain consistent, secure provisioning.
• Mentor and develop IT support talent to deliver exceptional user experiences.

Cloud & AI-Driven Optimization

• Oversee Microsoft 365, Azure, and other cloud-based collaboration platforms (DocuSign, Zoom, Mural, Readcube, etc.).
• Drive automation and AI initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and predictive IT support.
• Partner with business leaders to embed AI productivity tools across departments.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

• Strengthen data security and compliance across all systems and vendors.
• Ensure adherence to GDPR, HIPAA, SEC, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Lead internal cybersecurity programs, audits, risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and training.
• Oversee business continuity and disaster recovery planning, including annual tabletop exercises.
• Manage cyber insurance contracting and renewals across entities.

Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (graduate degree preferred).
• 10 years of progressive IT leadership experience in biotech, healthcare, or financial services.
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure) and modern IT service delivery.
• Proven success leading cloud migrations, AI automation, and IT optimization initiatives.
• Strong command of cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, SEC).
• Skilled in vendor management, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent communicator, capable of tailoring technical insights for executives, scientists, and operators.
• Strategic, resilient leader with a growth mindset and hands-on approach.
