The Berkeley Springs - Morgan County Chamber of Commerce was established over 70 years and continues to be a staple of the Morgan County business community. The Chamber was established to unite and provide connections for the business community. The Chamber of Commerce works on building professional relationships with all business to help them grow and improve.
The Berkeley Springs - Morgan County Chamber of Commerce plays a vital role in the business community and helps promote tourism and economic growth as well. The Chamber is responsible for the largest festival in Berkeley Springs the Apple Butter Festival.

Executive Director
The Executive Director is a full-time, exempt, salaried position that is responsible to the Chamber Board President and Board of Directors for all Chamber activities including recruitment and retention of membership, coordinating all programs, events and festivals, fundraising, community involvement and social media/website management. The ideal candidate will work to support our nonprofit and business members…the backbone of Morgan County.
Job Overview
The Executive Director is responsible for a full range of activities, including but not limited to:
- Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Chamber of Commerce
- Enhancing programs and activities to attract new members and improve existing member benefits
- Producing all board approved events including the annual Apple Butter Festival and creating/executing new events
- Maintaining the Chamber website, membership roster and membership directory
- Managing social media marketing including promoting regular social media spotlight on member businesses
- Event promotion through various marketing channels
- Leading/organizing volunteers and committees including: attending, taking minutes, and managing Chamber committee meetings
- Managing and authorizing income and expense management; coordinating financials with the BOD Treasurer
- Employee training and supervision of Chamber staff
- Liaison with business, government, and community constituents
- Maintain professional, shared office space with Travel Berkeley Springs organization and staff
Competencies/Qualifications Requirements
- Entrepreneurial, enthusiastic, creative, well organized, self-directed, and capable of functioning effectively in an independent work environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are imperative. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required
- Ability to manage all social media sites and independently maintain current and accurate website information
- Demonstrate quality, accuracy and timeliness in work performed
- Must hold self to the same confidentiality and conflict of interest standards as the Berkeley Springs-Morgan County Chamber Board of Directors
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, Organizational Leadership or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for educational requirement
- Ability to fully understand and communicate issues confronting the local business community, public agencies and community organizations
- Must be willing to work some weekends and evenings
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license
Preferred Skills (Training Available)
- Proficient in managing Zoom, Microsoft Teams and/or other video conferencing software
- Budgeting and financial record keeping experience
- Experience in a leadership or management role, preferably at a Chamber of Commerce or similar civic, community, or non-profit organization desirable
- Ability to work and interact successfully with a wide variety of volunteers
- Demonstrated organizational event planning skills
- Fundraising and/or grant writing experience skills
Compensation Package-- Full-time, Exempt, Salaried
Salary: $50,000 based on experience
Simple IRA: Optional, 3% Employer Match
Health Insurance: may be available, employer contribution is negotiable with salary package

Personal/Sick Leave: Employee is awarded 8 personal days per year beginning on employees hire date.
Vacation days: Employee is awarded two weeks (10 days) of paid vacation after one year of continuous employment.
Office Hours:
Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm*
Exempt, full-time position, EOE
*Some evening and weekend hours will be necessary for special events
*Apple Butter Festival event and other Chamber events may require an extended work schedule for several days.
