Berkeley Eye Center has been a Houston Vision Care Leader since 1959. With 26 clinics and 3 surgery centers staffed by more 670 employees, we cover the Greater Houston area & Corpus Christi providing a wide variety of vision care services.
We are currently looking for an Optometrist for the following Full-Time position:
Katy, Texas: This position provides Optometrist coverage for a MD/OD office. Routine eye care plus co-management with BEC ophthalmologists. The location is well-established in the area with strong community connections.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Optometrist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services, including vision examinations, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, and prescribing corrective lenses. This role requires a strong understanding of ocular health, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
Duties
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity and diagnose ocular conditions.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and provide recommendations for vision correction.
- Perform diagnostic tests and interpret results to determine the appropriate course of action.
- Educate patients on eye health, proper contact lens care, and the importance of regular eye exams.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in managing patients' overall health.
- Stay updated on advancements in optometry practices and technologies.
- Provide pediatric eye care services when necessary.
- Assist in the training of support staff in medical coding and aseptic techniques.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry school.
- Valid state license to practice optometry.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy related to the visual system and ophthalmology practices.
- Experience with optical systems and sales is preferred.
- Proficient in taking vital signs and understanding basic medical coding.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient education and care.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing individual responsibilities.
