School Nurse

Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of close to 1,000 students located in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn in New York City. Berkeley Carroll is seeking a compassionate, team-oriented nurse who thrives in a collaborative environment to join its dedicated Health Team, which includes three other school nurses and an athletic trainer, serving students across four campuses. Nurses at Berkeley Carroll are an integral part of the school community, working collaboratively with parents, teachers, administrators, and fellow Health Team members to support student well-being. The ideal candidate is a kind, compassionate professional with strong knowledge of child development, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative spirit. Hours may vary depending on school activities, field trips, and student need, and the position may include occasional overnight trips.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide nursing care to students in grades Pre-K through grade 12, including first aid, illness evaluation, and disease management.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers and administrators to support student health and academic success.
• Administer medications according to physician orders and school policies.
• Document care and medications in Magnus, our Electronic Medical Record system.
• Ensure compliance with immunization requirements, health screenings, and health records for students per the Department of Health.
• Monitor and manage communicable diseases; report incidents as required by public health authorities.
• Develop and implement individual health care plans and emergency care plans for students with chronic conditions or special health needs.
• Respond to school-wide emergencies and participate in crisis response planning.
• Remain compliant with Article 43 requirements and nursing licensure.

Required Qualifications:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
• BLS and First Aid Certification
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Salary and benefits are highly competitive and will be offered based upon experience and credentials. This is a year-round position, and the salary range for this position is $90,000-$125,000.
