About this position: HVAC Mechanic in Wahiawa, HI

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

o Preventative Maintenance of commercial HVAC and Chilled-water equipment

o Troubleshooting and repairs of commercial HVAC and Chilled-water equipment

o Testing and inspection of airflow quality equipment to include Refrigerant Monitors, UV Lights, and VAVs

o Ability to maintenance, troubleshoot and repairs of various specialized HVAC and Chilled-water equipment, to include, but not limited to, CRAC Units, VFDs, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, and Building Automation equipment

o Ability to create and manage the testing and inspecting schedule to ensure compliance with all requirements

o Maintains adequate inventory parts, equipment and material

o Escort contractors

o Respond to emergencies in accordance with the PWS

o Act as the SME for infrastructure improvements involving HVAC and Chilled-water upgrades and projects

o Act as the SME for all building cooling emergencies

o Ability to read blueprints and schematics


Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED

o Active Journeyman or higher HVAC license in any state

o Active Universal CFC certification

o Active TS/SCI clearance

o 5 years of experience in commercial HVAC

o 1 years of experience in Chilled-Water production and equipment

o Extensive knowledge of the Mechanical Codes and Regulations

o Excellent organization skills

o Excellent customer service and communication skills

o Experience in testing and inspection reports to ensure accuracy

o Experience utilizing various tools and testing equipment to perform required duties

o Excellent knowledge of reading blueprints and schematics

o Ability to work flexible hours

o Ability to work overtime

o Preventative Maintenance of commercial plumbing equipment

o Troubleshooting and repairs of commercial plumbing equipment

o Testing and inspection of backflow preventers and fire hydrants

o Ability to create and manage the testing and inspecting schedule to ensure compliance with all requirements

o Maintains adequate inventory parts, equipment and material

o Escort contractors

o Respond to emergencies in accordance with the PWS

o Act as the SME for infrastructure improvements involving plumbing upgrades and projects

o Ability to troubleshoot and repair sewage ejector equipment

o Act as the SME for all building water outages

o Ability to troubleshoot and repair backflow preventers

o Ability to read blueprints and schematics

  • Ability to move throughout the property, including accessing multiple floors, stairways, and mechanical spaces
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position and/or move about the property for extended periods during inspections or issue resolution
  • Ability to operate standard maintenance tools and office equipment
  • Ability to position self (e.g., bend, stoop, kneel, reach) to inspect or access equipment and areas requiring maintenance
  • Ability to move items of moderate weight (e.g., up to 25–50 lbs), or coordinate assistance when needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tenants, staff, and vendors

  • Work is performed in a combination of office, residential/commercial, indoor, and outdoor environments
  • Regular movement throughout the property is required, including common areas, mechanical rooms, and exterior spaces
  • May encounter variable environmental conditions, such as:
  • Weather changes (heat, cold, rain, snow)
  • Noise levels from equipment or building systems
  • Occasional exposure to dust, odors, cleaning agents, and building materials may occur
  • Requires interaction with tenants, employees, vendors, and contractors in both routine and time-sensitive situations
  • Work may involve responding to urgent or emergency situations outside of standard business hours
  • Use of standard office equipment (computers, phones) as well as occasional use of maintenance tools or equipment

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.

DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
