What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Project Engineer - Mechanical (Locks & Dams) position at Bergmann Associates?
#TeamBergmann is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Locks & Dams team!
What You’ll Do: Inspection and design of equipment for operating gates and valves for locks and dams (navigation, flood control, and hydropower).
Who We’re Looking For: The ideal candidate is a licensed PE with 10 years’ experience working with locks and dams. All candidates should understand USACE EM, ER, and ETL guidelines and have prior experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and FERC Standards.
Prior experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers and experience with Movable Structures Standards is highly preferred.
Experience with researching and solving complex technical problems; operating machinery for locks and dams and hydraulic equipment; equipment selection, and commissioning experience are preferred. Experience in design and operation of hydroelectric generating turbines, generators, and other equipment is a plus.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:
- Ability to work closely with others or independently as needed
- Willing to travel for site visits or meetings as needed
- Client facing experience is a plus
- Project Management experience
- Cost estimating experience
More Functions of the Senior Mechanical Engineer (Locks & Dams):
- Conducting job-site surveys to evaluate
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment to ensure its functioning properly
- Maintain site health & safety
- Develop project documentation including drawings, equipment schedules, details, specifications, and scope of work
- Selecting and applying equipment to new and existing operators for gates, valves, and other movable items
- Coordinate technical specifications with project requirements for bid packages
