Bergmann is looking for an Resident Engineer with great communication skills who enjoys working outdoors with others to join our team in New York! We have positions open in Syracuse, Buffalo, and Plattsburgh, NY.
What You’ll Do: Lead a small team of construction inspectors and/or work independently on site responsible for all construction inspection.
Who We’re Looking For: The ideal candidate must enjoy working with teams, be able and willing to work outdoors on a project site for extended periods of time, and have great communication skills. Attention to detail is a must for this position! All candidates must have a valid Driver’s License and a minimum of 10 years' with Transportation Construction Management and Construction Site Manager experience. A NICET IV is required for this position.
Expertise in federally-aided, transportation projects as a RE or Engineer-In-Charge is needed. Candidates should also have experience with contractors for highway, traffic signal and pavement installation for NYSDOT or locally-administered projects, and experience working for clients like NYSDOT/Municipal clients. Technical knowledge of general and highway construction is required.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:

· Experience working with DOT or Local Agency experience is a must
· Leadership skills and a decisive decision maker
· Strong mathematics skills
· Ability to work outdoors, on job sites, for extended periods of time
· 10 years NYS DOT experience
The Resident Engineer Also:
· Able to lead other inspectors or act as solo inspector for the construction inspection of bridge and/or highway construction projects including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches
· Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, material certifications, etc.
· Insures work is completed in accordance with NYSDOT specifications
· Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisive decisions.
· Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project
· Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.
· Leading other construction inspectors; providing coaching, mentoring, and direction as needed
