What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer - Structural position at Bergmann Associates?
We are looking for a Structural Project Engineer to join our team in the Lansing or Grand Rapids, MI office!
What You'll Be Doing: Our Project Engineers apply diversified engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of design projects relative to structural engineering. This position will include design work, as well as client-facing interactions. Candidates should be able to work independently as well as on a team to develop engineered solutions to all types of building challenges.
Who We're Looking For: Our ideal candidate has a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering and 3 years of related experience. All candidates should be comfortable working with Revit.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
- Previous experience with and an understanding of Revit is a must
- Ability to learn and use various analysis software
- Ability to make decisions independently regarding engineering complexities and methods
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate with other design professionals
- A strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail and an eagerness to learn
- Registered as a PE and a Master’s degree is a plus!
Our Project Engineers also:
- Analyze reports, drawings, tests, etc. in order to plan and design a project
- Prepare or modify reports, specifications, plans, and designs for a project
- Perform design calculations and quantity estimates
- Research code issues and review “shop” drawings from contractors
- Understand and create a full set of construction documentation
- May attend client meetings, prepare presentation materials, and/or present on technical topics
- Assist in tracking project financial budgets
- Be responsive to others and share information to improve efficiency and help others achieve goals
- May serve as on-site project representative
- Suggest new ideas and processes as well as staying informed of new developments in structural engineering
- View obstacles as opportunities
