Role Description The Associate Therapist (AMFT/APCC) — Part-Time, In-Person provides direct clinical services to clients in an on-site setting in San Luis Obispo, CA. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, providing individual and group psychotherapy, maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, and collaborating with supervisors and colleagues on treatment planning. The role also involves participating in regular clinical supervision, following legal and ethical guidelines, and engaging in continuing education as required for licensure. This is a part-time role that requires consistent in-person availability during agreed-upon clinic hours and a commitment to serving diverse client populations in a supportive, professional environment.
Qualifications
- Current registration with the BBS as an AMFT or APCC in the state of California, in good standing.
- Completed or in-progress master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or a closely related field.
- Foundational skills in individual, couple, and/or family therapy, including assessment, diagnosis (when applicable), and treatment planning.
- Strong clinical documentation skills, including progress notes, treatment plans, and risk assessments.
- Ability to apply evidence-based interventions and maintain adherence to legal, ethical, and professional standards of practice.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds and identities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with supervisors, peers, and community providers.
- Comfort working in an in-person, office-based environment and managing a part-time caseload with reliability and professionalism.
- Willingness to receive and integrate feedback, actively participate in supervision, and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Experience or strong interest in specific populations (e.g., young adults, families, LGBTQ communities, trauma survivors) is a plus.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or a closely related behavioral health field.
