Summary
BVMI is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Assistant to support our mission of providing free, high-quality healthcare to Bergen County’s working uninsured. This role is essential in ensuring our team—comprising both paid staff and dedicated medical volunteers—is recruited, vetted, and integrated into our culture of "Healthcare with a Heart."
The HR Assistant will serve as a recruitment specialist, with a heavy emphasis on identifying and securing clinical talent (Nurses, Medical Assistants, and specialized practitioners) while providing generalist support for all BVMI departments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Full-Cycle Medical Recruitment (Primary Focus)
- Sourcing: Proactively identify clinical candidates through healthcare-specific job boards (e.g., Health eCareers, really Medical), nursing schools, and professional networks.
- Screening: Conduct initial interviews to vet clinical skills, licensure status, and alignment with BVMI’s mission-driven culture.
- Pipeline Management: Maintain a steady pool of qualified medical professionals to reduce "time-to-fill" for critical patient-care roles.
- Coordination: Manage the interview lifecycle between candidates, the CEO/President, Medical Director, and the Director of Operations/HR.
2. Credentialing & Clinical Compliance
- Execute primary source verification for medical licenses, DEA registrations, and certifications.
- Ensure all clinical hires meet Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) deeming requirements and HRSA compliance standards.
- Manage the collection of mandatory health screenings (e.g., PPD, Hep B records) for new staff.
3. Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Facilitate a seamless transition from "Candidate" to "Staff Member" by managing all digital and physical onboarding documentation.
- Assist in the creation of a standard HR orientations presentations that highlight BVMI’s history, values, and community impact.
- Assist in the creation of department-specific training schedules for new medical staff.
4. HR Support & Data Management
- Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS and physical personnel files.
- Support the Director of HR with salary benchmarking for healthcare roles and benefits administration inquiries.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or a related field).
- Experience: * Minimum of 2–3 years of HR experience.
- Proven track record in medical/clinical recruitment is essential.
- Experience navigating healthcare credentialing and compliance (preferred).
- Skills: Expertise in using LinkedIn Recruiter or similar ATS platforms.
- Strong understanding of healthcare roles and the competitive NJ labor market.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google Suite.
