BUFFER/POLISHER I 

JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

Entry level position. Buffs and polishes firearm components to achieve specified finish.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Follows standard operating procedures in operating high-speed equipment to achieve established production quotas.

Applies aesthetic polishing to firearm components according to standard polish procedures.

Ensures a minimum of material removal and dimensional alterations to produce desired surface finish.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

Changes and lubricates belts and changes wheels on machines to accommodate specific parts being buffed or polished.

Keeps track of the number of parts produced daily.

Maintains work area by cleaning equipment and sweeping the floor at the end of the shift.

Moves light objects short distances.

Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is generally performed while sitting, but some stations may require standing.

Requires wearing safety glasses and hearing protection.

Personal safety protective equipment as required.Requires working in hot temperatures, high noise levels and confined work stations.

Requires manual dexterity and hand/arm strength.

Requires fine motor skills and good hand/eye coordination.

Requires ability to transport up to 40 pounds.

 QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:

Requires knowledge of safety precautions in working with high-speed equipment.

Exercise skill in the use of the hands in performing material removal and alterations to pistol parts.

Coordinate eyes and hands while operating high-speed machinery.

Make repetitive wrist, hand, and arm movements.Move light objects short distances.

Remain alert and attentive while performing repetitive tasks.

Recognize and report numbers on travelers.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

No experience is required. On-the job training is provided.
