Description

This is an in-person, two-year grant-funded position. Continued employment beyond the 2027–2028 academic year is contingent upon grant renewal.

Reporting to the Director of Counseling Services, the Part-Time Counselor position provides individual, group, and couples’ therapeutic counseling for students. The Part-Time Counselor will identify and work with community agencies to provide referral services and crisis intervention programs for students. In addition, the Part-Time Counselor will develop and participate in staff training and assist in the development and facilitation of education and preventative student development programs with an emphasis on mental health issues.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Individual, group, and couples’ therapeutic counseling
  • Maintain documentation of client files in the college’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, and in accordance with professional best practices
  • Develop, present, and evaluate educational and preventative programs for students
  • Identify and collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies and community organizations
  • Assist in the development of crisis intervention planning
  • Provide consultation to faculty and staff members regarding student mental health concerns
  • All other duties as assigned to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.

What You'll Bring

Education required to ensure success in this position:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field

Experience required to ensure success in this position:

  • Individual, group, and couples’ psychotherapy, preferably in Higher Education.

Special skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Individual and group counseling
  • Student outreach, presentation, and engagement
  • Crisis management skills
  • Collaborative with campus and community partners

License, certification, or registration necessary:

  • Valid and current Kentucky license to practice mental health therapy.

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds

Environmental conditions:

  • Office environment with high level of activity and occasional interruptions to address a mental health crise or urgent situation

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:

  • Computer
  • Standard office equipment
