Reports to: Director of Engineering
Role Summary: You are the technical anchor of our US-based engineering team. As the Lead Software Engineer, you own the technical execution and integration of our product. Your mission is to serve as the Technical Source of Truth, ensuring our technical organization produces maintainable and scalable code. You will spend 60–70% of your time hands-on, setting architectural standards and performing deep-dive code reviews.
Responsibilities
- Technical Quality Standards: Set and enforce standards for modularity and performance. You are the final reviewer for offshore pull requests.
- System Orchestration: Design back-end services and API "contracts" to prevent technical silos and ensure seamless integration across teams.
- Knowledge Ownership: Maintain a deep, hands-on understanding of the entire codebase, ensuring all logic and IP are transparently documented and owned in the US.
- Product Collaboration: Work with the Product Owner and DoE to translate business goals into executable technical roadmaps and feasibility assessments.
- Security & Compliance: Partner with Infrastructure to implement SOC II and GDPR patterns directly into the application logic.
- Documentation & IP Integrity: Ensure all architectural decisions and system flows are clearly documented, preventing the system from becoming a "black box" and ensuring the leadership to maintain full technical oversight.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Technical Qualifications
- Experience: 6–8 years in full-stack engineering with a focus on resource-efficient, back-end heavy logic.
- Languages: Expert TypeScript/JavaScript (Async/Await, ES6 , Functional/OOP).
- Frameworks: Proficiency in React or Vue (Performance profiling, State mgmt) and Node.js (REST/WebSocket APIs).
- Data Integrity: Expert in PostgreSQL/MySQL (Schema design, indexing, complex transactions). Familiarity with MongoDB.
- Real-Time Logic: Experience scaling WebSockets (Socket.IO/ws) using Redis, Pub/Sub, or message brokers.
- Web Fundamentals: Deep understanding of HTTP/S, CORS, Auth (JWT/OAuth), and browser-side security.
- DevOps Baseline: Comfortable with Docker, GitHub Actions, and secret management (.env/Vault).
