Pay Rate: $45.00 - $47.59
Role Overview
BEPC is seeking a collaborative and motivated Scientist I to support parenteral formulation development and drug delivery research within a Synthetic Molecule Pharmaceutics group. This role contributes to early-stage research and development efforts, supporting the transition of novel therapeutics from pre-clinical research into clinical development.
The ideal candidate has hands-on laboratory experience, strong formulation and analytical skills, and a passion for problem-solving and innovation in pharmaceutics.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently prepare drug product formulations with varying compositions to support pre-clinical studies and pharmaceutics work packages
- Investigate and establish drug product processes for simple and complex dosage forms, including nanoparticle-based formulations
- Analyze formulations using a range of analytical techniques to assess physicochemical properties, composition, and structure
- Accurately and contemporaneously document experimental work in electronic lab notebooks and presentations
- Review and interpret experimental data, identify trends, and propose hypothesis-driven follow-up experiments
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to complete project objectives and share results
- Support formulation development, drug delivery strategies, and manufacturing process development initiatives
- Maintain a high standard of laboratory organization, data integrity, and scientific rigor
Qualifications Required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
- PhD preferred
Required Fields of Study:
- Chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Chemical Engineering
Required Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time, hands-on laboratory or manufacturing experience (academia or industry)
- Ability to independently prepare formulations, including weighing, measuring, pipetting, and using standard laboratory equipment
- Hands-on experience with analytical techniques used in pharmaceutics, such as:
- Spectroscopy
- Rheology
- Chromatography
- Light scattering
- Physicochemical property measurements
- Ability to independently design experiments and interpret data
- Strong organizational, planning, and documentation skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Enthusiasm for innovation, problem-solving, and formulation development
Preferred Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences, particularly solutions and colloids
- Prior hands-on experience with:
- Nanoparticle preparation techniques
- Sterile handling practices
- Experience working in regulated or research-driven laboratory environments
