What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Lead position at Benz Metal Products Inc?
The Shipping, Receiving and Material Lead is a working lead role that directs and coordinates activities concerned with managing the flow of all raw materials, semi-finished goods and finished goods ensuring all incoming and outgoing shipments are accurate, documented and handled safely. The role is responsible for managing the complete cycle of materials within the facility, from initial receipt and storage to final shipment. The lead ensures operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and adherence to all safety and regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Promptly unload trucks and deliveries, inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies, and verify contents against purchase orders and invoices.
- Accurately stock, and store received items in designated locations, performing regular inventory counts (cycle counts) and reconciling any discrepancies in the inventory management system.
- Prepare and package outgoing shipments, including accurate labeling and documentation (e.g., bills of lading, packing slips, customs forms), and coordinate pick-ups with various freight carriers including Benz fleet.
- Utilize computer systems (ERP software, WMS, or basic spreadsheets) to record all shipment data, track inventory movement, and maintain comprehensive, organized records of all transactions.
- Safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move and transport goods within the warehouse and production areas.
- Adhere to all safety protocols maintain a clean and organized work environment and handle hazardous materials according to established procedures if required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of material storage areas. Maintains stock of all supplies needed for shipping and material handling.
- Operate Benz owned vehicles in a safe manner for short runs when required.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with logistics teams, customer service representatives, production teams, and external vendors to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations. Reads job travelers or follows oral instructions to facilitate movement of parts and materials to correct job operation, different Benz facilities and outside service contractors.
- Assist in other areas of Plant(s) as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years experience and/or training in shipping and receiving
- Forklift Driving Experience
- Proficiency in ERP/Computer Software required
- Ability to Read Drawings preferred
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required
