Title:
Team Leader for Parents as Teachers
Qualifications: 21 years or older w/Bachelor?s Degree or above in Early Childhood or related field & 2 year?s childcare management or related experience.
Reports To:Director of Child Enrichment
Supervises: Parents as Teachers staff

Job Goals:Responsible for assisting the Director with the supervision of the Parents as Teachers program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in conducting interviews and works to ensure a smooth transition & training for new staff.
  • Monitors staff and provides one-on-one training as needed to improve job performance.
  • Shows respect for staff and families and encourages respectful interactions.
  • Strives to meet each staff and families? individual needs and listens to their ideas, questions or concerns.
  • Ensures staff schedules are organized.
  • Oversees that staff maintain a clean, organized, inviting environment that is safe.
Activities and Environment
  • Provides supervision and support to Parents as Teachers staff. Conducts reflective supervision meetings, staff meetings, and observations of PAT staff during personal visits and group connections as required.
  • Reviews PAT family files regularly to ensure they are in compliance with PAT and grant requirements.
  • Plans and conducts PAT Advisory Board meetings. Seeks out new board members as needed.
  • Provides adequate feedback to the Director.
  • Has the ability to identify problems and assist in correction.
  • Organizes work efficiently and maintains an organized and tidy work environment. Monitors shared space to
assist in keeping it neat and organized.
  • Oversees the successful implementation of PAT Essential Standards and Blue Ribbon Affiliate requirements.
  • Completes paperwork/correspondence for quality accreditation, program grants or any other as assigned.
  • Has working knowledge of program and district policies and practices.
  • Lifts 10-30 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Assists with maintaining and/or increasing enrollment through recruitment strategies.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Meets and monitors staff for program attendance requirements and maintains a flexible work schedule.
  • Attends parent meetings monthly as well as special events.
  • Submits time off and clocks in/out at assigned time in Frontline. Is punctual.
  • Open to new ideas and take initiative. Possesses enthusiasm for the position.
  • Accepts responsibility for all job-related tasks, including budgets, documentation and record keeping.
  • Is knowledgeable of all grant guidelines and is fiscally responsible to operate the program within the budget.
  • Meets and monitors staff for program expectations regarding job performance as outlined in the personnel handbook.
  • Completes yearly self-evaluation and provides input for staff performance evaluations following district and/or program process.
  • Meets and monitors staff for professional development expectations as outlined in the personnel handbook.
  • Plans and provides monthly staff meetings and training for all Parents as Teachers staff.
  • Keeps Director apprised of families? and staff?s status as needed.
  • Accepts all assignments given by the Director.
  • Uses good judgment and keeps information confidential.
  • Follows chain of command with issues or concerns.
  • Has knowledge and ability to proficiently use technology required for the position to include the ability to develop spreadsheets and input data as needed.
  • Reviews and/or submits information for monthly reports. Also, ensures data is entered and accuracy is maintained in databases utilized by the program.
  • Supports and follows all administrative and district decisions and all personnel policies and procedures as outlined in the personnel handbook.
  • Keeps the main office and Director informed of whereabouts when not in the office.
  • Maintains and monitors staff for all areas of professionalism (dress, demeanor, speech, confidentiality) with supervisor, staff, co-workers, other district staff and the community.
  • Obtains Parent Educator Model Certification. Conducts personal visits and provides additional services for families when necessary.
  • Mandated reporter under the Arkansas Child Maltreatment Reporting Act.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Works to build positive relationships with supervisor, families, co-workers, children, school personnel and others.
  • Avoids showing favoritism.
  • Communicates effectively with a positive, professional attitude (e.g. non-judgmental, objective, reflective, empathetic, tactful, patient) with supervisor, families, co-workers and others daily; avoids gossip.
  • Works as part of a team with concern for all programs under the Child Enrichment Services umbrella.
  • Assists Parents as Teachers staff in planning family involvement activities to strengthen families and enrich the program.
  • Communicates with parents/families as needed to resolve any issues or concerns.
Additional qualifications include enjoyment of children, good mental and physical health, respect for diverse cultural backgrounds, willingness to complete training requirements, and willingness to undergo regulatory checks required by law.

About Us


The Bentonville Schools Child Enrichment Services Adventure Club and Building Bridges programs provide quality childcare for children of working parents. Adventure Club is a before and after school program for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. There is also a summer program, which offers a fun and safe place for children. Building Bridges is for infants through 5 years of age. The program?s purpose is to serve the parents and students of the Bentonville School District.


The Parents as Teachers program provides families with home visiting services primarily to families in the Bentonville School District and Benton County. PAT Parent Educators work with families to provide parent education so they can be their child?s first and best teacher and provide their child with developmentally appropriate learning activities. The goals of PAT are to increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices, provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues, prevent child abuse and neglect and increase children?s school readiness and school success.
