What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long Term Substitute Teacher position at Benton Stearns Education District?
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and flexible long-term substitute teacher to support students in a Level IV special education setting. This position involves implementing instructional plans, supporting behavior and social-emotional needs, and maintaining a structured, positive learning environment in collaboration with the special education team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and classroom supervision following lesson plans and programming developed by the special education team.
- Support students in meeting academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals within a structured and therapeutic setting.
- Implement individualized accommodations, modifications, and behavior support strategies as outlined in student plans.
- Support the development of positive relationships and reinforce appropriate behavioral and social skills.
- Maintain a safe, predictable, and supportive classroom environment aligned with program expectations.
Qualifications:
- Holds a valid Minnesota teaching license in special education, or holds a valid general education teaching license and is currently enrolled in an accredited program working toward special education licensure.
- Experience or interest in working with students with emotional/behavioral needs preferred.
- Strong classroom management, relationship-building, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in a structured environment.
