General Summary
Manages and directs the Distribution Engineering department through the planning, design, and delivery of electrical distribution projects serving Benton REA members. Responsible for leading a team of engineers and engineering technicians in the execution of overhead and underground distribution design, equipment selection, and construction standards application.
Operates within a blended internal and contractor design model, coordinating with the project management office on work routing and project prioritization. Collaborates closely with Project Management, Operations, and System Engineering to ensure effective project delivery, construction standards alignment, and system integrity. Contributes to system standards development, ensures quality and accuracy of distribution design work product, and develops staff at all levels. Departmental supervision is exercised over assigned personnel. Reports to the VP of Engineering/COO. Subject to 24-hour callout for after-hours emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college.
- Six (6) years of relevant experience in electrical utility distribution engineering, including supervisory or leadership experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. (e.g., Journeyman Lineman trade specific experience)
Special Requirements:
- Maintain a valid driver's license.
- Qualified Electrical Worker Training.
- Washington State Notary Public license within three (3) months of hire.
Desirable Qualifications
- Washington State Professional Engineering license, preferred.
