JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Head Football Coach (Through EduStaff)
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
LOCATION: Benton Harbor High School
JOB SUMMARY:
The BHAS athletic coaches promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Head Football Coach provides leadership and supervision for the team and works closely with the other coaching staff members and the administration of the school.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Successful High School playing career
- Successful High School Coaching at JV Head Coach or Varsity Offensive or Defensive Coordinator or Top Assistant (Minimum 2 years)
- Ability to motivate students to work as a team
- Able to coach in an Urban School District.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- College playing experience is a plus.
- College degree.
- Teaching Credential, any subject
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coach and supervise school program from middle school to varsity football program and team
- Encourage Multi-sport athletes
- Provide training rules to all athletes
- Understand and follow MHSAA policies, rules, and guidelines at all times
- Be a positive role model and mentor to student-athletes
- Evaluate all coaches in the program
- Attend all MHSAA, athletic department, and league meetings as needed
- Promote a program of teamwork, and sportsmanship
- Design training, and practice team programs
- Manage and submit all transportation trips for away events
- Coordinates all out-of-season team workouts
- Organize and supervise the auxiliary coaching staff to ensure that the program is properly implemented
- Ensure that all athletic activities conform to the BHAS Student Handbook and Athletic Handbook
- Communicate effectively with all members of the athletic department, school district, and community
- Work effectively with booster clubs and other community organizations, if applicable
- React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
- Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules, grade policies, and rules of behavior
- Ensure the continual supervision of student-athletes during games, in conditioning, and in the locker/shower room
- Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques
- Support the value of an education
- Maintain and manage all athletic equipment for your sports including, purchasing, inventory, repair, and maintenance
- Communicate with local news agencies with results of games, stats, and season successes
- Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Stipend position. This position is hired through a third-party vendor, EDUStaff.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Athletic Director.
