POSITION SUMMARY

Bentley Mission Critical is seeking an experienced Mission Critical / Data Center Project Manager to manage complex data center projects involving electrical and mechanical systems, factory integration, field installation, testing, commissioning support, and final turnover.

This position requires proven Project Management experience specifically within data centers or mission-critical facilities, with direct responsibility for BOTH electrical and mechanical scopes.

We are not interviewing candidates who do not meet this requirement.

General commercial construction Project Management experience alone does not qualify. Electrical-only experience does not qualify. Mechanical-only experience does not qualify.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they have personally managed both electrical and mechanical scopes on data center projects and understand how these systems integrate in an operating, mission-critical environment.

This is a hands-on Project Management position requiring technical knowledge, leadership, accountability, customer interaction, schedule management, cost control, and the ability to drive multiple organizations toward successful project completion.

REQUIRED DATA CENTER EXPERIENCE

Candidates must have proven experience as a Project Manager on mission-critical data center projects ranging from $ 100mm to $800 mm.

Experience must include direct Project Management responsibility for both:

Electrical Systems

• Medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution
• Switchgear and switchboards
• Transformers
• UPS systems
• Battery systems
• Generators and emergency power
• ATS and electrical distribution
• Power modules / electrical rooms / e-houses
• Electrical equipment integration
• Controls, BMS/EPMS interfaces, and related systems
• Testing and commissioning coordination

Mechanical Systems

• Chilled-water systems
• Mechanical piping systems
• CRAH/CRAC equipment
• CDUs and liquid-cooling systems
• Pumps and heat exchangers
• HVAC and heat-rejection systems
• Mechanical equipment integration
• Controls and BMS interfaces
• Testing, flushing, startup, and commissioning coordination

Candidates must understand the interaction between power, cooling, controls, redundancy, commissioning, and the IT load in a mission-critical facility.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Manager will have overall responsibility for assigned projects from kickoff through final turnover.

Responsibilities include:

• Own project execution from award through completion.
• Manage project scope, schedule, cost, quality, and customer expectations.
• Lead project kickoff and ongoing customer meetings.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing, integration, field installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Manage electrical and mechanical scopes as an integrated project—not as separate silos.
• Develop, maintain, and drive detailed project schedules.
• Track critical-path activities and identify schedule threats before they impact delivery.
• Coordinate long-lead electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Work directly with engineering teams to resolve technical and constructability issues.
• Review project drawings, specifications, submittals, equipment requirements, and scope documents.
• Understand and work with SLDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, and control documentation.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, scope gaps, and customer-driven changes.
• Coordinate vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, factory teams, and field installation crews.
• Manage equipment delivery and site logistics.
• Coordinate factory integration with field installation requirements.
• Lead or participate in FAT, startup, testing, commissioning, punch-list, and turnover activities.
• Maintain accurate project forecasts and cost-to-complete information.
• Identify cost overruns early and develop recovery plans.
• Protect project margin while meeting contractual requirements.
• Maintain project documentation and provide clear status reporting to management and customers.
• Escalate technical, commercial, schedule, quality, and safety issues before they become major impacts on the project.
• Travel to customer sites, manufacturing facilities, vendor locations, and project meetings as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following requirements are mandatory:

• Proven Project Manager experience specifically on data center / mission-critical projects.
• Proven Project Management experience managing electrical systems within a data center.
• Proven Project Management experience managing mechanical systems within a data center.
• Demonstrated understanding of how electrical and mechanical infrastructure supports mission-critical IT operations.
• Experience managing fast-track, technically complex construction or integration projects.
• Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, schedules, change orders, and cost-to-complete.
• Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical construction documents.
• Working knowledge of SLDs and P&IDs.
• Experience coordinating engineering, procurement, construction/integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Experience working directly with customers, engineers, subcontractors, OEMs, suppliers, and field teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the United States as project requirements dictate.

CANDIDATES WE WILL NOT INTERVIEW

To avoid wasting the candidate's time or ours, we will not interview applicants who do not have direct Data Center/Mission-Critical Project Management experience involving BOTH electrical and mechanical systems.

We are not looking for:

• General commercial construction PMs without data center experience.
• Residential construction PMs.
• Project coordinators seeking their first Project Manager position.
• Electrical PMs with no mechanical data center experience.
• Mechanical PMs with no electrical data center experience.
• Candidates whose data center exposure was limited to sales, estimating, engineering, or support roles without direct Project Management responsibility.
• Candidates who have worked around data centers but have not personally managed mission-critical projects.

Your resume must clearly demonstrate qualifying data center Project Management experience.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel is required.

This position will support projects throughout the United States. Travel may include customer sites, Bentley facilities, vendor facilities, equipment inspections, installation activities, testing, commissioning, and customer meetings.

Candidates must be comfortable traveling as required by the project.
