Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and enriching activities for residents in our assisted living and long-term care facilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for individuals, particularly those with disabilities or dementia, through creative event planning and recreational therapy. This role requires effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents, and families.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement a variety of recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Facilitate group activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement.
- Assist in the development of individualized activity plans for residents, ensuring their preferences and needs are met.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and social workers to provide holistic care that supports residents' emotional and physical well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and assess their engagement levels.
- Provide support to residents during activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to foster a supportive community atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Experience in assisted living, long-term care, or nursing home environments is preferred.
- Background in event planning or recreational therapy is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices and working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with diverse populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A genuine passion for enhancing the lives of others through meaningful activities.
- Relevant education or training in social work or related fields is beneficial but not required.
