What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician, Licensed or Experienced position at Bentley Animal Hospital?
Bentley Animal Hospital is a busy, privately owned, 3 doctor practice in Huntsville, Alabama. Our 16 employees are compassionate and provide the high standards of care our clients have come to expect from us. We pride ourselves on the personal touches that give our clients that "warm fuzzy feeling" we all want to feel when it's our own fur babies. Our ideal candidate will have a love for animals, positive attitude, and a willingness to be a part of our team.
This is a full time position which includes 4 days a week (7am - 5:30pm with an hour for lunch), every 3rd Saturday from 7am - noon, and occasionally every 6th Sunday morning. Starting wage is $19 - $23 per hour depending on experience, but negotiable. Health insurance offered after 90 days. Simple IRA with employer contributions, life Insurance at no cost, and vacation are available at 6 months. Pet discount starts immediately.
The right person will be licensed with 2 years of work experience, or unlicensed with more than 3 years of work experience. Must be able to:
- Properly restrain animals
- Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Obtain and interpret patient vital signs
- Run in-house lab tests (Bloodwork, UA's, fecals, cytologies)
- Induce and monitor anesthesia
- Assist with surgery
- Provide post-operative monitoring
- Perform dentals
- Care for hospitalized patients
- Carry out treatment plans
- Maintain medical records
- Administer medications (oral, injectable and transdermal)
- Obtain radiographs
- Apply bandages
- Explain patient instructions to clients and share educational materials.
- Communicate with clients in a professional and friendly manner.
