Job Title: District Manager
Position Type: Part-Time (Salaried, estimated 24-30 hours per week)
Pay: $36,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year (depending on experience)
Job Description:
The Bent Conservation District is seeking a highly motivated, part-time District Manager to oversee daily operations, handle core administrative duties, manage bookkeeping and payroll, conduct community outreach, and support local conservation efforts. Grant writing will also play a vital role in this managerial position; grant writing experience is very beneficial, but not required as it can be learned on the job. We offer a lot of support and training to make sure you succeed in this position. This role offers a flexible schedule, though it may require occasional evening and weekend attendance at events or board meetings. The District Manager serves as the public face of the Conservation District, working closely with and reporting directly to an elected Board of Supervisors, while collaborating with key conservation partners.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- District Operations & Compliance: Handle core administrative duties, coordinate educational programs, prepare required government filings, and manage rental equipment and dripline irrigation sales.
- Bookkeeping & Financial Records: Oversee regular financial record management, budget balancing, payroll, and bookkeeping using QuickBooks.
- Community & Partner Relations: Communicate effectively with landowners, agricultural producers, and agency partners to coordinate district initiatives and community outreach.
- Grant Writing & Resource Development: Actively research, identify, and write grant proposals (such as state-level funding opportunities) to secure funding for district projects that benefit our farming and ranching community. Manage the lifecycle of awarded funds, including compliance monitoring, budget tracking, and preparing timely deliverables and reporting.
Qualifications:
- A strong willingness and ability to learn new skills on the job.
- Proficiency with financial software, specifically QuickBooks, and spreadsheet applications is preferred, though ongoing training and support to improve skills is provided
- Self-motivated with exceptional organizational skills and a commitment to high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders and board members.
- A background in Agriculture-related fields is preferred, but not required.
