Job Summary:
As a Recreation Aide, you will assist in planning and conducting group and 1:1 activity for residents, providing music-related programs, and encouraging resident participation. You will also document resident participation and responses to activities, assist with care plan documentation, and provide input for MDS assessments. Your strong communication skills and approachable personality will be essential in building relationships with our residents.
Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and conducting group and 1:1 activity for residents
Provide music-related programs such as singing, music appreciation, and small group music activities
Encourage resident participation in activities
Document resident participation and responses to activities
Assist with care plan documentation and activity progress notes
Provide input for MDS assessments related to activities and resident preferences
Complete attendance records and activity documentation timely
Visit residents on a 1:1 basis, especially those who are room-bound or have behavior or mood concerns
Assist with decorating, special events, and holiday programs
Requirements:
College/bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field required
2-3 years of experience in Therapeutic Recreation, preferably in a long-term care setting
Ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate individual and group recreation therapy interventions
Proficient in documentation, including assessments, progress notes, care plans, MDS
Must be able to create individualized care plan goals and appropriate intervention
Music skills - ability to play an instrument
Strong and approachable personality with excellent interpersonal skills
