Immediate Hiring: Low Voltage Technicians – Travel Work (ND, SD, NE)Start Date: January 5th, 2026 | Benson Electric Benson Electric is immediately seeking skilled and motivated Low Voltage Technicians for prevailing-wage travel projects across North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Work includes demo of existing systems, installation of new low-voltage infrastructure, and support on large-scale federal projects. Position Overview**Must have clean background and be able to complete a federal background check to be eligible for this position. **Technicians will support the installation, upgrade, and testing of various low-voltage systems including:- Fire Alarm Systems- Access Control & Card Readers- Security Cameras (CCTV)- Low-Voltage Cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Fiber) Key Responsibilities- Perform demo of old cabling and devices; install new wiring, conduit, and system components- Install, terminate, test, and label low-voltage cabling- Pull cable, fish conduit through raceways, walls, and doors- Bend and install EMT conduit — conduit bending experience strongly recommended- Install devices such as cameras, card readers, door hardware, fire alarm appliances, control modules, and panels- Read and interpret blueprints, risers, wiring diagrams, and follow specifications- Execute installations accurately based on drawings and field conditions- Create red-line as-builts to document field changes- Report field changes to supervisors promptly- Troubleshoot low-voltage systems, opens, shorts, and ground conditions.- Work collaboratively and independently- Responsible for updating the team lead on the status of all work performed daily- Maintain strong communication and follow safety procedures- Ability to understand the workload ahead of time and plan materials and tasks accordingly and in an organized manner. Preferred/Required Qualifications- Must be able to pass a federal background check- Experience in low-voltage cabling (fire alarm, access control, CCTV)- Competency in troubleshooting low-voltage systems- Ability to bend conduit and install raceways- Ability to read blueprints and execute installation accurately- Ability to produce current and clear red-line as-builts- Strong communication skills- Must be able to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds- Proficiency with hand and power tools, basic software, and technical documentation.- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel Compensation- Prevailing wage (rate varies by county)- Travel per diem and lodging expenses provided.
