An early childhood teacher will create a nurturing and engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children, responsible for lesson planning, organizing, and managing their own classroom. This role involves developing and implementing a curriculum that fosters social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth through hands-on activities and play-based learning. The teacher will work closely with parents and caregivers to support each child's unique development and celebrate their milestones. DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for preschool-aged children.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students.
- Supervise children in outdoor and indoor settings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Foster social, emotional, and cognitive development through interactive play and structured activities.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about children's progress and needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and coordinate special events and programs.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and individual children's development.
- Promote positive behavior and conflict resolution among students.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the classroom and outdoor spaces.
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through carefully constructed curriculum
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with families through meetings, newsletters, and events to foster a strong community connection.
- Utilize creative arts, music, and movement in daily activities to encourage self-expression and creativity among children.
- Collaborate with Lead Instructor and Recreation Supervisor
Qualifications
- Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field – preferred
- Knowledge of child development and educational best practices
- Ability to create age-appropriate lesson plans and learning activities
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with children
- Experience working with children 2-5
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with children, parents, and staff
- Ability to solve problems as they arise
- Must be dependable, energetic, and have a positive attitude
- Ability to enforce Park District rules and safety practices
- Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid is required

SALARY $17.00 per hour
HOURS 8:00am-3:30pm, M-F, additional hours as needed
