The Bensalem Township School District is seeking a Special Education Coach (Autism Instruction Focus).  This position is a full time (200 Days, 10 Months position) under the Act 93/Administration group.  The Bensalem Township School District is in beautiful Bucks County, Pa. Position Goal: To support and mentor special education teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies, interventions, and best practices for students with disabilities, with a particular focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role will provide guidance on curriculum adaptation, behavior management, data collection, and individualized education program (IEP) implementation to ensure student success. The coach will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to build capacity and enhance instructional practices across the district.

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience teaching students with disabilities, with extensive experience working with students with Autism.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices for Autism, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Structured Teaching, and communication supports such as PECS and AAC devices.
  • Knowledge of special education laws (IDEA, Section 504) and ethical guidelines in behavior analysis.
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs and behavior intervention plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor teachers effectively.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with current laws and policies governing special education.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to inform instruction and interventions.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide coaching, modeling, and direct support to special education teachers in best practices for Autism instruction.
  • Assist teachers in designing and implementing effective instructional strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with ASD.
  • Support teachers in the development and execution of IEPs, ensuring compliance with legal and educational standards.
  • Offer professional development and training on evidence-based interventions, behavior management strategies, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to promote inclusive practices and co-teaching models.
  • Provide resources and strategies for differentiating instruction, utilizing assistive technology, and promoting student engagement.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to enhance instructional quality.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of student data to drive instructional planning and individualized supports.
  • Support the implementation of social-emotional learning and behavioral supports, including Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Serve as a liaison between special education teachers, administrators, and families to foster strong communication and collaboration.
  • Stay current on research, trends, and policies related to special education and Autism instruction.

This position requires travel between schools to provide coaching support, attend meetings, and conduct professional development sessions. The Special Education Coach will work in classrooms, training rooms, and administrative offices as needed. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate.
