Baker / BaristaPosition Summary

The Baker/Barista is responsible for preparing fresh baked goods, crafting high-quality coffee beverages, and providing exceptional customer service in a welcoming and fast-paced environment. This position may include early morning baking shifts, evening preparation shifts, or a combination of both, depending on experience, skills, and availability.

This role may be filled by one employee or divided into separate positions based on operational needs and availability.

Essential Responsibilities Baking

• Prepare and bake breads, bagels and other baked goods according to recipes and quality standards.
• Prepare doughs, batters, and other bakery items.
• Ensure products are fresh, properly displayed, and available throughout the day.
• Package, label, date, and rotate products using FIFO procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bakery work area.

Barista

• Prepare coffee, espresso, tea, and specialty beverages consistently and efficiently.
• Assist customers with beverage selections and bakery purchases.
• Operate the POS system and accurately process customer transactions.
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked coffee station.

General Responsibilities

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
• Complete opening and closing duties as assigned.
• Restock ingredients, paper goods, and supplies.
• Assist with food preparation and other deli operations as needed.
• Work collaboratively with the deli team and jump in wherever needed to support daily operations.

Qualifications

• Previous baking, barista, café, or food service experience is required.
• Passion for baking, coffee, and delivering outstanding customer service.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work independently.
• Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take initiative.

Schedule Requirements

• Availability for early morning shifts to prepare baked goods before opening.
• Availability for evening shifts for baking, preparation, and next-day production, as needed.
• Weekend and holiday availability may be required.
• Schedule may vary based on business needs and employee availability.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to safely operate commercial bakery and coffee equipment.
• Ability to work in both warm kitchen and fast-paced customer service environments.
