What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at Bennington Veterinary Clinic?
The veterinary assistant’s primary tasks are related to assisting the veterinarian and licensed veterinary technicians during office visit hours, surgery and dental procedures. During office hours the assistant will accompany the veterinarian into the exam room and have a primary responsibility for safely restraining the patient. They will also be responsible for cleaning the room after the patient has left and for counting medications and applying the correct labels to the medication. Must be able to lift 50# of weight. During surgery and dental procedures, the veterinary assistant will be responsible for assisting the technicians with patients, assisting in clean up and preparation of the surgery areas. They will also have the responsibility of helping to clean and prepare the surgical instruments. All employees contribute to keeping the hospital clean. This includes cleaning cages and runs, vacuuming, mopping, laundry and other duties that may need to be performed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.50 - $18.50 per hour
